HIA Expo & Home Show 2006

The Brickworks team was out in force at the HIA Expo, held in Brisbane recently. The leading brands Austral Bricks, Bristile Roofing and Eureka Tiles were part of a stunning display that made our competitors look very ordinary indeed. Auswest Timbers also made their debut with a display of decking timbers.

A highly creative display showcased building product innovation at its best, revealing What’s New from Brickworks’ Companies. This included the Riviera Freedom pavers with a light glaze. The new Terraçade TL created a sensation with architects, designers and builders, as well as home buyers who visited the Expo.

As part of the display a turntable spun around to catch the attention of visitors to the Expo passing by. On one side was a display and image of Terraçade TL, in the colours currently available, and on the other side was the heading “Terraçade the Future is Looking Bright”.

The glazed Terraçade TL concept colours were very well received with architects salivating at the thought of designing buildings with this great new product. Families could also see Terraçade used as a garden screening, to demonstrate it can be used as a landscaping product, as well as a lightweight walling material.

Also on show was the new Queensland Urban One range of bricks. There will be more news on the Urban One range in subsequent issues.

According to Eve Castle, Austral Bricks - Queensland marketing assistant, the show went extremely well.

“I feel that our display was the most colourful and enticing. Our major opposition’s stand was almost identical to last year’s and as they were directly opposite us I think it made us stand out even more” said Eve.

Full credit to Richard West – Group marketing manager – Austral Bricks and Brown Ink – Melbourne for arranging and designing a great display. Eve Castle and Mark Schofield deserve praise for their valuable contributions. Thanks also go to Ross Peters, and his construction team from Victoria, for making the set-up run smoothly.

Peter Lowe and his team from Queensland ensured the stand was packed away safely at the end of the Expo, for its journey back to Victoria.

It takes a lot of work to create, build and man a display stand for a major exhibition. Richard West said that all the efforts were worthwhile with the team being inundated with valuable leads.

Congratulations to all those involved in making the display such a great success.
